An eagle that appeared to have been struck by a vehicle in Lake City on Oct. 16 has died.
James Rainwater of Lake City said a woman discovered the injured bird shortly before noon near the center median on the 1000 block of North Lakeshore Drive.
The woman waited with the injured bird for about a half hour until a staff member from the National Eagle Center arrived, according to Rainwater.
As the avian care manager for the National Eagle Center, Tiffany Ploehn is responsible for the care and well-being of the center’s eagle residents.
