Girl scouts donate cookies to food shelf and school district
On Saturday morning two of the three Girl Scout troops in Lake City donated 138 boxes of cookies to the Lake City Food Shelf. Last week the third troop donated 166 boxes to the Lake City School District. Those cookies were used in the school district’s free lunch program. The 2020 cookie program was shortened this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and to prevent passing the financial burden on to troops, Girl Scouts River Valleys is crediting troops for unsold cookie inventory this year and has asked troops to donate the inventory to a nonprofit organization that is aligned with the Girl Scout mission.
