Historical society: History lives in our stories
The Lake City Historical Society hosted an Open Hours event over Water Ski Weekend to bring together Lake City residents (current, former, new and seasonal) to share their stories about Lake City and what a revelation that was! We learned about first responders and heard firsthand accounts of tragedies. There were tours of historic homes and stories of other homes as well. There were unexpected gems like Tricia Nixon Cox’s wedding cake and a mailman’s last day. We had a cello performance by a canoer heading to New Orleans and the enjoyment of kids digesting cookies and local history.
