In need of workers, Hutchinson decided to grow their own

Lake City manufacturers, many of whom say they have difficulty finding skilled workers, learned about a collaborative effort to address a worker shortage at the annual manufacturers’ luncheon in Lake City.

Miles Seppelt is the economic development authority director in Hutchinson, Minn., a city of about 14,000 that bills itself as “Minnesota’s Manufacturing City.”

Seppelt described worrying employment trends in central Minnesota.
