When I drove down to Wabasha, Minnesota this autumn to visit the Wabasha County Developmental Achievement Center, which locals call “The DAC,” I was eager to see a place I had heard about for years but had never been to in person.

My limited knowledge of the DAC included the fact that year after year they manufactured the metal buttons sold at Lake City’s Water Ski Days, and the fact that they offer programs for adults with disabilities.
