Traditional Mayan skirts will be featured at Nov. 20 open house

Hispanic Inclusion of Lake City is presenting an open house about Guatemalan cultures on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Lake City Area Arts Center.

People in attendance will have the opportunity to learn about cortes.

“A corte is the traditional Mayan women’s skirt, usually woven on a treadle loom by women,” the group said in a news release. “This will be a day to admire the beauty of these cortes and learn about the history of them and how they are part of Guatemalan culture today.”
