Last week’s “Friends & Neighbors” column suggested a pop-up Spirit of ‘76 parade around the perimeter of Patton Park at 9:30 a.m. on July 4 to reenact this famous painting by Archibald Willard. The general idea was to enlist two drummers, a flute or piccolo player (or just pretender) and a flag bearer to march around Patton Park twice—first followed by kids on decorated bikes and on the second lap by everyone else. Mayor Brian Quinn has offered to stop by for a quick address at 10:15 a.m. before heading off to his next engagement.
