Visitors still welcome at Hok-Si-La

Lake City’s Hok-Si-La Park is open to visitors, though some events have been canceled or postponed.

“The grounds and trails are open,” Park Manager Joanne Klees said. “Outhouses are open throughout the park and boat landing.”

She said the park is following Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines. Normally the season for events and camping begins May 1, but that could be postponed.

“We will open buildings and camping when CDC has cleared this step,” she said. “Park updates will be posted on Facebook and Twitter.”

The pandemic has already altered the park’s May schedule.

A wedding planned for the first weekend in May has been postponed until fall. St. Paul Audubon society has canceled their annual Mother’s Day weekend birding event at the park this year.

Hok-Si-La is on Facebook at “Hok Si La Park” and on Twitter @HokSiLaPark.
