Boards weigh in on former public safety building, lot

The Lake City City Council discussed the fate of the vacant former public safety building at its monthly meeting on July 8.

City staff had previously reported that they couldn’t identify a public use for the site, which includes the building at 209 S. High Street and an adjacent parking lot, and asked the council to consider selling it.

Since then the city’s Planning Commission, Economic Development Authority (EDA) Board, and Library Board have taken up the issue and provided their recommendations to the council.
