City breaks ground on Ohuta Beach project

A major redevelopment of a prominent piece of lakefront property got ceremonially underway Friday, May 14 with a groundbreaking event.

The City of Lake City’s Ohuta Beach area will be home to a large plaza area, a four-season multi-use restroom facility, an interactive fountain, and more as the result of a multi-million redevelopment effort.

Just before the event got underway, chainsaws and heavy equipment operated by contractor Pember Companies leveled two ash trees in the construction area (the cottonwood on the lakefront will remain).
