It was quieter than expected Friday at the Lake City compost site, the first day the site was open this year.
The site has undergone physical and policy changes since closing last fall.
The entrance and exit “has been improved to make things flow a little better,” Scott Jensen, Lake City’s public works director, said in an email Tuesday. “There were a few scrub trees/bushes removed that improves visibility for traffic moving in and out. Some scrap materials were removed and ... we created more space for boat cradles.”
