Councilmembers open to trial use of former public safety building

The former Lake City Public Safety Building at 209 S. High Street has sat mostly empty since the city’s police, ambulance, and emergency management departments left for a new facility on North 10th Street in 2017.

On Monday, Oct. 11, the Lake City City Council listened to a report from Brigette Rol, the interim director of the Lake City Public Library, about possible uses for the building, which is located right next to the library.

Rol’s report identified three organizations that have expressed interest in the space.
