House bonding committee coming to Lake City

The last time the bonding committee from the Minnesota House of Representatives visited Lake City, several legislators wondered why the city wasn’t asking for any state bonding money.
“Lake City has historically not been proactive in approaching the state for funding,” Mayor Mark Nichols wrote in notes submitted to the Graphic. “Our neighbors to the north (Red Wing) and south (Wabasha) have been quite successful in their bonding requests.”
He cites Red Wing’s riverfront renovation and the National Eagle Center in Wabasha as examples.
