Is it time for your immunizations?
National Immunization Awareness Month — August 2018 — reminds people that vaccines are necessary throughout their lives. Immunizations recommendations are based on age, lifestyle, occupation, travel locations, and certain medical conditions. While some diseases are rarely seen here because most people get vaccinated, there are many countries where immunizations are not available for everyone and those diseases still exist. Ultimately, if enough people get immunized some diseases will disappear altogether. So far this has happened once, with smallpox.
