La Crosse firm wins contract to move dredged material

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, awarded an $8.7 million contract to J.F. Brennan Company, Inc., of La Crosse, Wis., to unload dredged material in Wabasha Sept. 23.

The contractor is expected to begin moving the dredged material during the summer of 2016.

In all, nearly 800,000 cubic yards of dredged material will be moved from Crats Island, near Wabasha, via a pipeline route that is approximately 5 miles long. The material will be placed at the Corps’ Wabasha Gravel Pit located near the intersection of U.S. Highway 61 and Bruegger Valley Road.
