Open swim after all

O’Neil Swimming Pool in Lake City opened for its first open swim session of the 2021 summer season Monday, June 14.

The first day of open swimming at the municipal pool is just one of the traditional milestones of summer that didn’t happen last year because of COVID-19. This year a lifeguard shortage left officials scrambling, and initial plans called for using scarce lifeguard time for swimming lessons and other programming; not open swim.
