Port authority process advances

Plans to convert Lake City’s Economic Development Authority (EDA) to a port authority took a step forward April 8 when the city council approved an EDA request to seek state legislation that would allow the city to establish a port authority.

If the legislation passes and becomes law, the city would then have the option of creating a port authority with powers described in the enabling resolution.
