Primary election held around state

Voters went to the polls Tuesday in a primary election that didn’t have much at stake locally.

With only five candidates filed for Lake City City Council, no primary was necessary to narrow the field for the three available seats to six. Incumbents Jason DeVinny and Cindy McGrath are running against Andru Peters, Katie Novak, and Megan Kramer for three council seats. Incumbent Phil Gartner is not seeking re-election.

In the race for Lake City mayor, incumbent Mark Nichols is facing John Redmond.
