Printer change results in earlier deadlines for Graphic and Shopper
A change in printing facilities will result in earlier deadlines for the Lake City Graphic and Lake City Shopper. Beginning with the Feb. 2 Shopper and Feb. 4 Graphic, printing will move from RiverTown Multimedia in Red Wing to House of Print in Madelia, Minn. The Graphic office will remain open in Lake City.
The new deadline for news and advertising for the Lake City Graphic will be 10 a.m. on Monday. Distribution day for the Graphic will remain Thursday.
Deadline for Lake City Shopper advertising will be 2 p.m. Thursday. The distribution day for the Shopper will remain Tuesday.
Content for the Graphic and Shopper will still be gathered at the Lake City office. Completed pages will be sent electronically to House of Print for printing and mail preparation. The papers will be trucked back to Wabasha where Graphic staff will pick them up for mailing and distribution. Increased distance and travel time from the printing facility necessitate the earlier deadlines.
The Wabasha County Herald and Plainview News are among the area newspapers moving their printing to Madelia. Trucking costs will be shared by these publications.
RiverTown Multimedia, which publishes the Red Wing Eagle, was sold by Forum Communications of Fargo, N.D. to O’Rourke Media Group, which owns newspapers in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Vermont and Arizona. The sale was effective on Jan. 1 of this year. The sale did not include the production facility in Red Wing where the Graphic and Shopper are printed, which will permanently close at the end of January.
The Graphic remains locally owned, publishers are Terry Schumacher and Dean Schumacher. The Graphic and Shopper have been printed in Red Wing for the past four years and were previously printed at Interstate Publications in Wabasha.
