Refuse costs on the rise in Lake City

The Lake City City Council approved a new contract with Hagedorn Enterprises for solid waste and recycling services.

Under the agreement, residential trash and recycling service for a typical household will increase 64 cents to $16.98 and $4.10 respectively.

City Public Works Director Scott Jensen said the increases are reflective of what the company has seen over the last several years.

“Recycling costs more money than it has in a long, long time because we just don’t have any place to go with it,” he said.
