Remains matched to boater missing since April

Human remains discovered on the Mississippi River near West Newton on July 14 have been identified as those of David John Sheridan, a sailboater reported missing on April 29, according to the Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension matched the remains to Sheridan through DNA testing.

Sheridan was last heard from at 9:40 p.m. on April 29. On April 30 Sheridan’s boat was discovered on the bank of Camp Lacupolis south of Lake City “with the night lights on and running,” according to a news release.
