With speed-related fatalities rising, extra law enforcement planned

To deter speed-related deaths and educate motorists, officers, deputies and troopers in Minnesota will work overtime shifts June 22 through July 19, according to a news release from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.

Law enforcement agencies across the state will participate in the campaign coordinated by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety (DPS-OTS).

Fatal crashes where speed is a factor are increasing, according to the department.
