Styling and listening for 60 years

When Dee Springer was a child, her mother used to give her and her sisters home permanents.

“And then they’d get all icky,” Springer said. “And my hair was so fine. So I started doing my own hair when I was quite young. And so I thought ‘This is what I want to do.’”

When she got through with beauty school she went home to help her dad on the farm and wait for the results of her board exam.

One day she took the tractor to the mailbox and there was a message for her: she had passed.

On Aug. 3 she marked 60 years in the profession.
