Women elected to five city council seats for the first time

For the second straight general election, voters in Lake City have selected a record number of women to represent them on the city council.

In 2018, when Faye Brown and Amy Alkire won seats on the council, women outnumbered men on the council for the first time in history at 4-3 (if you include the mayor who votes as a member of the council).

The majority was short-lived however, as the late Mary Lou Waltman resigned for health reasons just as the new members were joining the council.
