Zumbro Falls Mayor Bruce Heitmann said things went okay as the community responded to sudden flooding on the Zumbro River that crossed Highway 63 in one place Saturday.
“It would have been worse if it had been three to four inches higher,” he said.
That’s how close some businesses in lower-lying areas of town were to being evacuated.
“A couple more inches and it would have went into the vet clinic,” he said.
Some businesses in town weren’t taking chances and raised things off the floor where possible, according to Heitmann.
