Alice Cox obituary

Alice Margaret Cox, 88, of Lake City died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2020 at Valentine’s Assisted Living in Red Wing.  She was born February 17, 1932 in Springfield, Minn. to Heiko and Rose (Daven) Veldman.  In 1935 her family moved to Hollandale, Minn. where she grew up and attended school.  On October 11, 1950 she married Charles Cox.  After they were married they farmed in Lake Township in Wabasha County for 48 years. In 1996 they retired and moved to Lake City. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lake City.  She volunteered at Pass It On Thrift Store in Lake City. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing Barbie clothes, quilts, baby blankets, and booties.  She was an excellent cook and enjoyed canning.  She loved watching westerns, soap operas, and Vikings games.  
She is survived by her children, Gail (Michael) Seymour of Red Wing, Gordy (Susan) Cox of Lake City, Terry (Sarah) Cox of Old Frontenac, Audrey (Glen) Stumpf of Red Wing; sister, Virginia Colburn of Boise, Idaho; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; brothers; sister; daughter Linda Hobbs; great grandson, Brandon Angell.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, 2020 at United Methodist Church in Lake City with Reverend Phillip Schmidt officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Burial will take place at Lakewood Cemetery in Lake City.  Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City.  Online condolences can be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
