Arlys Peterson Obituary

The funeral service for Arlys A. Petersen will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Trinity Lutheran Church – Lincoln in rural Lake City, with Pastor Joel Naumann officiating.  Burial will be in Millville Cemetery in Millville.
    Arlys Ann Petersen, 75, of Chippewa Falls, Wis., and formerly of Zumbro Falls, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018 at Wissota Place in Chippewa Falls.  
    She was born May 27, 1943 in Chatfield, Minn. to Arlyn and Lillian (Kohlmeyer) Busitzky.  She was baptized on June 20, 1943 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wykoff, Minn., and was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester on April 4, 1957.  Arlys graduated from John Marshall High School in Rochester in 1961.  On Dec. 30, 1961 she married Gunther Petersen at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester. They lived on the Ft. Huachuca Army Base in Arizona until 1962.  They moved to the Rochester area farms from 1962-1970.  Then the Petersen’s moved to Margate, Fla. in 1970, and they moved to Minnesota to the area of Zumbro Falls in 1976, and then moved to Eau Claire, Wis. in 2011 to be closer to their son.  
    Arlys was a licensed daycare provider from 1977 to 1987 from her home.  She was also a Watkins dealer.  Arlys enjoyed an assortment of crafts. Ceramics and counted cross-stitching were two she loved to do the most.  She also liked to do puzzles, games especially Soduko and Yahtzee, and to go to garage sales.  Arlys’ favorite pastimes included camping in the RV, baking and caring for her animals.  
    Arlys was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, and a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church – Lincoln and the Lincoln Ladies Aid where she served on the card committee.  She was also a member of the Minnesota (MN) Good Sam’s – Heartland Chapter, Sunshine chairperson; a lifetime member of the Millville American Legion Auxiliary; and a member of the Coachmen Chapter and served as secretary.
    Arlys is survived by her husband, Gunther Petersen; daughter, Terri (William) Dempski of Apalachin, N.Y., and son, Gordon (Linda) Petersen of Bloomer, Wis.; four grandchildren, Mark and David Dempski, and Aaron and Zachary Petersen; one sister, Karen Olson of Stewartville.  She was preceded in death by her parents.
    Friends and family may visit on Friday, Oct. 26, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel, and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
    Memorials are preferred to Paws & Claws of Rochester, or Open Heart Surgery for Children at The Children Hospital in Milwaukee, Wis..
