Betty Black obituary

Betty L. Black, 82, of Lake City, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021 at the home of her daughter in Stewartville. She was born Sept. 1, 1938 in Lake City to Harry and Hazel (Schultz) Olson. Betty attended elementary and high school in Lake City. She married Marlin “Blackie” Black in Decorah, Iowa on June 22, 1957.
They made their home in Oak Center where they raised their four daughters. In 1979 they moved to Lake City. Betty was a homemaker and worked at the Jewell Nursery until her retirement. Betty was a quiet person, she enjoyed being home and spending time with her family.
Betty is survived by her four daughters, Marla (Charlie Beck) Black of Lake City, Caralee (Dale Monson) Kochen of Owatonna, Wendy (Donald) Preble of Stewartville, and Kimberly Johnson of Owatonna; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 2009, a step grandson, Darrel, and a sister, Barb Gastner.
There will be a private family memorial service at a later date. Burial will be in Black Family Cemetery in Oak Center.
