Carol Bignell Obituary

Carol Ann (Sparks) Bignell, 81, of Red Wing passed away, Monday, Feb. 10, 2020 at her home in St. Crispin Living Community.
    She was born Dec. 15, 1938 to John and Mary (Bowren) Sparks in Wabasha. Carol worked at IRC, now ProAct, in Red Wing. She loved gardening, playing bingo and spending time with her family.
    She is survived by her seven children, Cherri (Rick) Feuerhelm of Pine Island, Evonne Lehnartz of Red Wing, Dan Blattner of Minneapolis, Dennis Blattner of Red Wing, Barry Blattner of Red Wing, Ann Blattner of Duluth and Barbara (Ron) Moyer of Mondovi, Wis.; eight grandchildren, Dj, Nicole, Nathan, Michael, Sarah, Travis, Matthew and Dillon; two great-grandchildren, Meshley and Lilah and one on the way; three sisters, Marilyn, Renee and Gwen; as well as numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary; granddaughter, Deedra Lehnartz; grandson, Nicholas Moyer; and brother-in-law, Marvin Plank.
    The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Crispin Living Community and at hospice for the excellent care she received.
    A burial will take place in the spring at St. John’s Cemetery in Lake City. Arrangements with Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing.
