Charles Grimm obituary

    Charles “Chuck” H. Grimm, 87, of Lake City, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at his home in Lake City. He was born May 5, 1933 in Rochester to Elmer & Ethel Grimm. He attended school in Rochester, graduating in 1951 from Rochester High School. He went on to attended Rochester Junior College and graduated in 1954 with a Tech. Associate Degree. Chuck served his country in the U.S. Army from Nov. 8, 1954 to Oct. 31, 1956 in Stuttgart, Germany. On April 23, 1960 he married the love of his life Ruth Hanson in Lake City.
    Chuck was employed as a draftsman designer at IBM in Rochester for 30 years. He then worked at Wild Wings in Lake City in the frame shop for 14 years, retiring in 2002. He enjoyed spending his time wood carving, going fishing, and especially enjoyed visits from his grandchildren. Chuck felt so blessed to have his wife and three wonderful children. He enjoyed his canoe trips to the BWCA and loved observing the return of eagles to our area along Lake Pepin each spring. Chuck was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Lake City and United Lutheran Church in Red Wing and was active in many church activities. He also volunteered his time to the Lake City Hospice Program for many years, that his wife Ruth had helped establish in 1989.
    Chuck is survived by his three children, Thomas Grimm of Stillwater, Steven (Wendy) Grimm of Colorado Springs, and Ann (Kevin) Harrison of New Hope; five grandchildren, Elizabeth, Phillip, Owen, Johanna, and Brennan; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and one sister, Jean Hopkins.
    A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held later this summer.
