Dale Husbyn obituary
A Life Lived in Color and Compassion – Dale Edwin Husbyn, a genuine family man has embarked on his final journey.
Dale departed from this world on July 26, 2025 at the age of 75. He leaves behind a legacy of generosity and humor, and a trail of remodeling projects and hand-me-down treasures from everyone he knew. Yes one man’s trash is another man’s treasure!
The Story of a Soul – Born in Zumbrota, Minnesota on September 9, 1949, Dale was the son of Edwin and Irene Husbyn. He was the eldest of four boys creating a childhood filled with mischief, adventure, and many fishing trips.
To know Dale was to know a real friend. He had a profound way of sharing his love for dogs, nature, and water with all who knew him. He could always be found reading a western, dreaming up new travel plans to catch the biggest fish or ways to finish one of his many remodeling projects.
Dale built a life filled with abundant generosity and love of family. As a man of many interests, he worked as a land surveyor for the City of Red Wing, dealt blackjack, started Rhythm and Brew coffee shop with his ambitious loving wife Dawn, and traveled the country as a truck driver in his later years. His proudest achievements, however, had nothing to do with his work; they were in the moments he spent with his family and friends fishing, hunting, camping, and teaching the younger generations how to be good stewards of the land.
Family and Legacy – Dale is preceded in death by his devoted wife Dawn, with whom he shared too few years of laughter, adventure, and love. He is also preceded in death by brother David, parents Edwin and Irene, and great-granddaughter Skylar. He is survived by daughter Amy (Jamie) Poss; grandchildren Kelsey (Mitchell) Holden, Austen (Haley) Poss, and Mariah (Duncan) Benedict; great-grandchildren Malaya, Hadley, Lennox, Nash, Jax, and Griffin; and his brothers Donnie (Debbie) Husbyn and Mark (Darla) Husbyn; nieces and nephews Brady, Matt, Stephanie, and Skylee; and a wide circle of friends who were also his family and touched by his generosity and love.
Dale’s spirit will live on in every sunset over Lake Pepin.
Memorial Service – A celebration of life will be held at the former Rhythm and Brew, located at 220 East Chestnut Street, Lake City, MN 55041 on Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. All are welcome to attend and share a memory.
