Daniel Dicke obituary

Daniel Mark Dicke, beloved husband and father, age 60 passed away Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020 at his home.  
He was born March 15, 1960 in Red Wing to Kermit and Angie (Klein) Dicke. When he was young, they moved to the farm in Goodhue.  Growing up Dan enjoyed participating in FFA and even went to the State Fair. He graduated from Goodhue High School and later Red Wing VoTech. On Oct. 6, 1984 he married Jean Balcome in Lake City.  Dan spent many years on the farm where he was very passionate and innovative. He was an exceptional herdsman, and was able to help increase the production of the farm. Music was something that Dan enjoyed, especially playing the trumpet with his boys. He loved spending time with his family, including going on vacations and cooking/baking with his kids and grandkids. He was kind and gentle man who always had fun with whatever he was doing.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Balcome-Dicke of Goodhue; children, Alex (Kristina) Dicke, Mitchell Dicke, and Liz (Joey Leonhardt) Dicke, all of Goodhue; grandchildren, Connor, McKenna, Grace, Ava, Mya, Kylah, Nate; mother, Angie of Goodhue; siblings, Deborah (Craig) Henslin, Lynette Dicke, and Mark (Leslie) Dicke; and 13 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Kermit; and two nephews.
An outdoor funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, 2020 at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Goodhue with Reverend Eric Hanson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Burial will take place in the church cemetery.  Please dress appropriately for the weather, bring a lawn chair, wear a mask and socially distance.  Online condolences can be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
