Darrell Peterson Obituary

Darrell Norell Peterson, 76, of Lake City, went to be with the Lord after a short battle with cancer on Sunday, April 28, 2019.
Darrell was born on Dec. 31, 1942 to Otto and Beatrice (Anderson) Peterson, the youngest of four children, Laura “Pat” (Jim) VonWald, Rodney (Carol), and Byron “Dub”.  He married the love of his life, Mary Holmstadt on July 1, 1967.  They raised three children, Stephanie, Blake (Betsy), and Doug (Chris).
Darrell was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, an electrician, electrical inspector, Scout leader, member of the Jaycees, and Eucharistic minister, all while being a loving and devoted husband, and a terrific Dad.
Darrell had a great sense of humor, a huge and soft heart, and a straightforward view on life.  He was quick with a zippy retort, or to lend a helping hand.  His many hobbies included wood carving, turning wood, playing Euchre with friends, and puttering in his office or the garage.
He was Grandpa/Poppa to four boys, Brandon, Tucker, Emery, and Bennett, who he enjoyed immensely, and Melanie, his step-granddaughter.  He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Pat and brother, Dub.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, with Fr. Donald Schmitz officiating.  Friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service at the church, a luncheon will follow the service.  Darrell chose to donate his body to medical science at Mayo Clinic.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel.  Guest register may be signed at www.schleicherfuneralhomes.com.
