Delaine Klein obituary

    Delaine Klein, 85, passed away on June 23, 2022 surrounded by her family at Elysian Senior Homes in Lake City.
Delaine Carna Miller was born on October 1, 1936 to Reinhart A. and Helen Marie (Betcher) Miller in Lake City, Minn. Delaine was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s and attended St. John’s Lutheran School. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City in 1955. Following graduation Delaine worked for the telephone company in Rochester. At a local dance, Delaine met Donald Klein and they were married on April 27, 1957 at St. John’s Lutheran in Lake City. The couple farmed for four years in the Belvidere area before moving to their home farm in Mount Pleasant township, Wabasha County. Delaine and Don farmed for more than 50 years together. They never really retired and enjoyed continuing to run errands for the farm. Delaine loved to garden, cook and sew. She never missed an opportunity to listen to polka and old-time music. She greatly enjoyed time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
    Delaine is survived by her husband of 65 years, Donald of Lake City; her children: Dean (Lois) Klein of Lake City, Dawn Clevenger of Denver, Colo., Darlis Peters of Lake City; eight grandchildren: Jamie (Phil) Schroeder, Melissa (John) Eron, Eric (Chassidy) Klein, Nicole (Jeremy) Schafer, Dayton Clevenger, Wayne (Josie) Peters, Sharon (Jessie) Carlson and Kayla Peters, and 12 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother: Leland Miller of Hager City, Wis., three sisters-in-law: Mary Ellen Miller, Delaine Hinck, Angie Dicke and numerous nieces and nephews.
    Delaine was preceded in death by her parents, 11 siblings and one son-in-law.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City with Reverend Nathan Cordes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 28 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City and also at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to services. Pallbearers will be Delaine’s grandchildren and honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren. Memorials are preferred to St. John’s Lutheran Church.  Online condolences can be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
