Dennis Hatleli obituary

Dennis G. Hatleli, 77, passed away at his home in Lake City on Feb. 14, 2021.
Dennis was born on Dec. 22, 1943 to Llewellyn and Gladys (Luetje) Hatleli in Rushford, Minn.
Dennis married his wife Diane Troke on Aug. 28, 1965, and enjoyed over 55 years of marriage before his passing.
Dennis is survived by his wife Diane; his sons, Daniel (Sara) Hatleli, David (Betsy) Hatleli; three grandchildren, Ella, Ivan, Annabelle; brothers, Jon (Cathy) Hatleli, Mark (Deann) Hatleli; niece, Andrea Halvorson; nephew, Chris Hatleli. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Dennis spent 36 years teaching primarily high school art and English. He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed his participation in the Phantoms Car Club and the MSRA while showing off his 1939 Ford. Operating an upholstery business for decades, he was able to marry his skills and enthusiasm for old cars by focusing on street rod and classic car interiors, some of which were featured in major publications. In 1970s through the 90s he was active in the southern Minnesota music scene playing steel guitar in several bands. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, photography, and took a particular interest in habitat restoration for monarch butterflies. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Lake City. Online condolences may be placed at mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
