Donald Megraw obituary

    Donald Earl Megraw, age 82, passed away peacefully at home, in Lake City, on June 25, 2022.
He was born on September 6, 1939 to Earl and Elsie (Schleusner) Megraw in Rochester, Minn. where he was raised and educated. He graduated from Rochester High School in 1957 and went on to attend Rochester Junior College, graduating with an associate of Arts Degree in 1959. Don worked as a natural gas pipe liner in Minnesota and Iowa before starting his life-long career with the United States Postal Service. During his 33 years with USPS he served as a proud union steward for the Rochester American Postal Workers Union.
    Don met and married the love of his life Geri (nee Gile) Ferguson on June 1, 1968. They made their home in Lake City, Minn. for 54 years and raised their family there. Don loved fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles, building and working on cars, tractors, family trips and get-togethers. He loved and cared for many cats over his lifetime, including some of his favorites, Kit Kat, Tom, Puffy and Mitzie, who held a special place in his heart.
    He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Geri; daughters Linda (Glenn) Wallerich of Dodge Center, Minn., Holly (Bill) Anderson of Rochester, Minn., and Robin (Eric) Highum of Howell, Mich.; two granddaughters Kelsey (Paul) Durbahn of Albert Lea, Minn. and Katie Anderson (Joe Gerten) of Cannon Falls, Minn.; and one great-grandson, Cael Durbahn. Preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
    Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2002 at 2 p.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel with one hour of visitation prior to services. Dan Crapo, Mayo Hospice Chaplain will officiate and burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Lake City. Pallbearers will be Glenn Wallerich, Bill Anderson, Eric Highum, Paul Durbahn, Joe Gerten and Chuck Solheid.
