Donald Petrich obituary

    Donald Ervin Petrich, 86, of Frontenac, died unexpectedly, on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Red Wing. He was born on October 10, 1935, in Florence Township, to Herbert and Edna (Richardson) Petrich. He graduated in 1953 from Lincoln High School in Lake City. He served in the US Army from 1957-1963, first in El Paso, Tex. and then in Okinawa, Japan. In 1963, he was united in marriage to Judy Strickland and they later divorced. On April 24, 1978, he married Debbie Levers at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lake City. For 50 years he worked for Rockwool/Conwed/USG. He was a member of the Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post #54 in Red Wing, where he served as commander for two terms.  He enjoyed bowling in three bowling leagues a week, playing euchre, bingo and fishing.
Don is survived by his wife Debbie of 43 years; three children, Dawn Knutson of Baldwin, Wis., Jessica Petrich of Bloomington and Christopher Petrich of Zumbro Falls; four grandchildren, Angela and Ashley Langer and Keontay and Keonna Smith; one sister, Kate Simanski of Blaine along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bob (Fran); one niece and one nephew.
    Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2021, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Legion prayer service, Friday, December 3, 2021, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.  Burial will be at a later date at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston. A reception will follow the memorial service on Saturday at the Leo C. Peterson American Legion. Online condolence may be sent to the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
