Duane Baker obituary

    Duane Lorn Baker, age 83, of Lake City, died Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at the Lake City Care Center.  He was born August 10, 1938 in Red Wing to Lawrence and Marian (Engli) Baker. He grew up in the Ellsworth area and graduated from Ellsworth High School. After High School he started working at S.B. Foot Tannery. He joined the U.S. Army and served in Korea. Duane was honorably discharged in 1964.  
    He met his future wife, Loa Brinkman roller skating in Red Wing. The two were married on June 12, 1965. They lived in Lake City where he worked at DiAcro. He later worked as a machinist at IBM until working at Federal-Mogul where he worked until his retirement.  
    He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the VFW Post 8729. Duane enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and playing cards with his friends. He was a man you could always count on and who enjoyed being with his friends and family.  
    He is survived by his wife, Loa of Lake City; brother-in-law Joe (Faye) Brinkman of Lake City; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Calvin (Evelyn) Baker and Quinten Baker; sisters, Leona (Ray) Benson and Joyce (Fran) Matson; brother-in-law Roger (Nancy) Brinkman; mother and father-in-law, Ray and Irma Brinkman.  
    Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City with Reverend Nathan Cordes officiating. Burial with military honors will take place at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.  Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, April 4 and one hour prior to the service Tuesday all at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson Peterson Chapel.  Online condolences can be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
