Gerald Mickelson Obituary

Gerald Marvin Mickelson, 96, of Lake City, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island, Minn.
    He was born on April 27, 1922 to Clarence and Mathilda (Rusch) Mickelson in Belvidere Township in Goodhue County. Gerald graduated in 1940 from Goodhue High School. He married Marjorie Klindworth on June 21, 1945 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City. They farmed in Gillford Township until 1987 when they retired and moved to Lake City. He then worked for the city and owned and operated a lawn care service.  Gerald was a member of St. John’s Lutheran where he served as an elder for many years.  
    Gerald is survived by his five daughters, Betty Pike of Rochester, Sandra (Tom) Walters of Eden Prairie, Judy (Jerry) Thornton of Oronoco, Bonnie (Bill) Fuhrman of Lake City and Susan (Jim) Mack of Pine Island; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lila Mae Nordlie of Stoughton, Wis. and Angeline (David) Rose of Key West, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marjorie; two sons, Tony and Orie; two sons-in-law, David Hostettler and Richard Pike; and three brothers, LeRoy, Milton and Clarence Jr.
    A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 2, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City with Rev. Nathan Cordes officiating. Burial will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 1, at Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.  Online condolences can be sent to www.mahnfami lyfuneralhome.com.
