Gervase Majerus

Gervase “Jerry” John Majerus, age 94, of Bellechester, Minnesota died on Monday, June 22, 2026, at St. Elizabeth – Gunderson Nursing Home in Wabasha. He was born on October 25, 1931, in Bellechester to Art and Evelyn (Reding) Majerus.
Gervase grew up attending St. Mary’s Catholic School in Bellechester. Following his graduation, he worked for local farmers in the Bellechester area until he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1953. He proudly served his country in Korea until he was honorably discharged after being wounded in the line of duty and received a Purple Heart. After he returned home from the military, he started working at the foundry (Gould) in Lake City, where he worked for 51 years.
Gervase married Marjorie Poncelet on July 3, 1956; he was married to his beautiful wife for 70 years. He loved to spend time with his family; he loved playing cards with his family (especially when he won their money). His greatest joy was spending time at the family cabin and he enjoyed watching sports.
Gervase is survived by his loving wife, Marge; children, Kris (Andy) Kehren, Stan (Nancy) Majerus, Chuck (Lori) Majerus, Fritz Majerus, Steph (Dale) Simonson, Todd (Sherie) Majerus, and Angie (Chris) Ball; 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Angie and Sue; brother, Dave; daughter, Lora Luhman; and sons, Allen and Jerry Joe.
The Funeral Mass for Jerry will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bellechester with Father Thomas McCabe officiating. Burial will follow the service in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Bellechester. Friends and family may visit from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the church.
