Harold Schumacher obituary
Harold Edwin Schumacher, 94, of Plainview, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Green Prairie Rehabilitation Center in Plainview. He was born October 19, 1929, in Millville to Karl and Edith (Read) Schumacher. Harold attended Millville Elementary School and graduated from Plainview High School in 1947. On October 28, 1950, he married Bernice Uthke at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Eyota.
Harold was a carpenter and home builder in the Millville area for many years. In 1962 he started farming in rural Plainview. In 2000 he moved back to Millville. Harold served on the Oakwood Township Board for many years. He was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Millville and served on its church council. In 2019 he moved to Green Prairie Rehabilitation Center in Plainview.
Harold is survived by his seven children, Audrey (Paul) Cocker of Lake City, Connie Jo Curtis of Rochester, Beverly Ann (Bruce) Hall of Kellogg, Mary (Terry) Hall of Theilman, Calvin (Wendy) Schumacher of Millville, Bernard (Sharon) Schumacher and Maynard (Judy) Schumacher, both of Plainview; 18 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Emily Diedrich of Millville. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son-in-law, Darrell Curtis; a sister, Lomyra; and infant sister, Helen.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, at the Grace United Church of Christ in Millville with Pastor Ana Wilson officiating. The burial will follow the service in the Millville Cemetery. Friends and family may visit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
