Helen Hagedorn obituary

Helen Louise Hagedorn, 88, of Lake City, Minn. died early Friday morning, February 9, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Saint Marys Hospital. She was born on November 23, 1935, in Millville, Minn. to Frank and Florence (Priebe) Blattner. Helen started attending school at Millville School, and then moved with her family in 1946 to Lake City where she attended Washington Elementary School and St. John’s Parochial School. On October 27, 1951, she married James Hagedorn, Sr.
Helen and Jim owned and operated Lake City Auto Salvage, later becoming Hagedorn Enterprises in Lake City until she retired. Helen loved to go camping, traveling, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, and going to casinos. She also spent many winters in Texas. Helen was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City and was active in the Ladies Aide. She was also a member of the Lake City VFW Auxiliary.
Helen is survived by her children, Janet (Dale) Barghusen, Jason (Julie) Hagedorn, Arnold (Mary) Hagedorn, all of Lake City, and Michael Hagedorn of Millville; 11 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim on June 29, 2004, three brothers, and one son, James, Jr.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Friday, February 23, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Lake City VFW.
