James Doerr Obituary
James Harold Doerr, 80, of Red Wing, died Sunday, July 19, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on April 6, 1940, in Bowdle, S.D. to Albert and Mary (Wentz) Doerr. At a young age he moved with his family to Diamond Bluff, Wis. On June 24, 1961, he was united in marriage to Harriet Reis. For many years they lived in Frontenac. He owned and operated Jim’s Auto Body and Jim’s Cycle Repair in Frontenac and also worked at various businesses in the area including, Di-Acro, Central Research, Tesdall Motors, MacTech and SB Foot Tannery. Harriet died on Nov. 25, 1993. He moved to Bayfield, Colo. for a few years and then back to Red Wing. He was a skilled machinist. He enjoyed working with all kinds of machines, rebuilding cars and small engines, snowmobiling, motorcycling, hunting, fishing and collecting guns. His biggest passion was Mopar cars and parts. He had a 1973 Dodge Dart and 1965 Honda Scrambler motorcycle that he was very proud of. Family was a big part of his life and he enjoyed being with his grandchildren.
Jim is survived by two children, Darlene (Patrick) Cordes of Ellsworth and Steven Doerr of Frontenac; three grandchildren, Stephanie Plote, Lucas (Megan) Peck and Joshua Doerr; one great-grandson, Wade Peck and extended family; one sister, Babe (Jim) Enevold of Bay City; one brother, Lester (Laura) Doerr of Hager City; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Harriet; one brother; and one sister.
A visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, July 24 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing. A private family graveside service will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in River Falls. Face masks and social distancing are encouraged.
