Janice, 77, of Saint Paul Park passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Paul.
Janice Marie Barghusen was born Aug. 4, 1940 in Red Wing to Arnold and Elise (Kuyath) Barghusen.  Janice was three when her mother passed away and in her mother’s obituary it said that “Janice brought sunshine into mother’s heart the day she was born.”  She attended school in Zumbro Falls and graduated in 1958 from Lincoln High School in Lake City.  On June 20, 1959 she married Lloyd Grobe at Lincoln Church in rural Lake City.
Janice and Lloyd farmed in rural Lake City for many years before moving to Cottage Grove in 1966.  In 1973 the Grobe family built a house in Saint Paul Park to be closer to serve at church and for the children to attend parochial school.  Janice was very crafty and crocheted many things. She collected bells and coffee cups, and she had a vast village collection that she took much pride in.  She was a member of Saint Andrew’s Lutheran Church and served in many capacities of the Ladies Guild.  She was a founding member of the Pineridge Garden Club, and volunteered at the Wise Penny Thrift Shop.  Janice and Lloyd served at Camp Croix near Danbury, Wis. in many ways and enjoyed many summers camping there with their children and grandchildren.
Janice is survived by her husband, Lloyd Grobe of Cottage Grove; daughter, Kim (Curtis) Boogren of Cottage Grove; sons, Brian (Jane) Grobe of Hudson, Wis., Dale (Kathie) Grobe of Elgin, Jon Grobe of Blaine and David (Anne) Grobe of Ft. Worth, Texas; 11 grandchildren, Benjamin (Michelle) Grobe, Holly (Steven) Todd, Sean Grobe, Nathaniel (Nicole) Grobe, Mitchell Boogren, Anthony Boogren, Aaron Grobe, Patrick Grobe, Kristi Grobe, Paxton Grobe and Kylie Grobe; four great-grandchildren, Blake and Brooklyn Grobe, Weston and Jett Todd.  She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Ross Grobe.
Friends and family may visit from 9  a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel, in Lake City.  The guest register may be signed online at www.schleicherfuneralhomes.com.
