Jean Dieltz Obituary

Jean M. Dieltz, 79, of Lake City and Mesa, Ariz. passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018 at Banner Hospital in Mesa.  Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 24 at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City.
    Jean was a devoted wife, proud mother, grandmother and a friend to all who knew her. She was born on April 26, 1938 in Flandreau, S.D. to Soren and Lela (Holm) Pedersen. Jean grew up in Jasper, Minn.  She graduated from Jasper High School in 1956.  After high school, she attended Globe University/Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis.
    Jean married her childhood sweetheart, Jerome (Jerry) in 1958 in Jasper.  Five years later, they added three sons to their family.  There were happily married for 59 years.  As a young person, Jean was very active in 4-H club achieving the National Gold Key award.  Later she was active in Rochester chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, Red Hat Society, Lake City Lions Club, Fountain of the Sun Citizen’s service club in Mesa.  Jean was an avid reader, bridge player and enjoyed cooking, baking and planning events for her family and friends.
    Jean felt very fortunate to be a stay-at-home mom for 22 years, returning to the work field when her sons started college.  She worked for ITT Life Insurance and retired from Analysts International Corporation (AiC).
    Jean is survived by her husband, Jerry of Lake City and Mesa ; her sons, Mark (Lisa) Dieltz of Lake City, Scott (Jessie) Dieltz of Eagan, Minn. and Jeff (Debbie) Dieltz of Big Lake, Minn.; her grandchildren, Amanda (Luke) Peterson, Brittany (Aaron) Pyzdrowski, John Dieltz and Steven Dieltz; great-grandchildren, Ava and Elsie; her sister-in-law, Sheila (Bachman) Pedersen of Brandon, S.D.; nephew, Roger (April) Pedersen; and niece, Connie (Greg) Niederauer. Jean was preceded in death by her father, Soren, mother, Lela and brother, Juel Pedersen.
