Jean Tighe Obituary

    The funeral service for Jean Tighe will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel, 1865 S. Hwy. 61 in Lake City.  Burial will follow the service at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Lake City.
    Jean Tighe, 94, of Hastings, and formerly of Rochester and Zumbro Falls, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019 at Regina Assisted Living in Hastings.  She was born March 25, 1924 in Cheyenne, Wyo. to Harry and Mary Wildman.  She graduated from high school in Cheyenne.  On Dec. 15, 1945 she married John Tighe in Cheyenne.
    Jean and John farmed in Nebraska until 1958 when they moved to rural Zumbro Falls, where they farmed until John’s death in 1991.  Jean moved to Rochester in 1996 and then moved to Hastings in 2016.
    Jean was a former member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in West Albany.  She was a very active member of her church and the Zumbro Falls VFW Auxiliary.  Jean enjoyed her flowers, sewing, and most of all her grandchildren.  She kept close contact with her Nebraska farm friends over the years.
    Jean is survived by her children, Mike Tighe (Peggy Clemens) of Zumbro Falls, Tom Tighe of Minneapolis,  Patti (Mark) Sontag of Altoona, Wis., and Janice Meyer of Eagan; nine grandchildren, Brad Tighe, Michelle Tighe, Beckie Ihde, Amy Kinneman, Philip Sontag, Peter Sontag, Allison Sontag, Cory Meyer and Kelly Jerzak; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Cathy (Dan) Olson, two brothers, and one sister.
    Friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City on Tuesday.  
    Memorials are preferred to the Regina Foundation, 1175 Nininger Road, Hastings, MN 55033.
