John Diepenbrock Obituary

John A. Diepenbrock, born Jan. 13, 1933 to Grover and Cecile (Rill) Diepenbrock in Lake City,  went to be with Jesus on April 9, 2019.
    He was preceded in death by brothers, Bob, Don, Bill, and Dick and sister, Arlene Rutz as well as their spouses; nieces Monica Rutz and Nancy Toomey and nephew, Greg Diepenbrock.
    He was married to Cecilia Abts and later divorced. In 1981 John and Sandy Nemitz Ehlers were united in marriage. His occupation was being a mechanic and he could fix almost anything. His hobbies included wood carving and building things. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, wood cutting, snowmobiling, and most any outdoor activities. Since moving to Colorado, elk hunting was his passion. He also enjoyed football and basketball. He loved his family and friends. He would try to help anyone, anytime he could. He will be deeply missed.
    He is survived by his loving wife, Sandy, of 38 years; step sons, Bruce (Sandee) Ehlers and Kevin (Kathy) Ehlers; grandson, Peter Ehlers; sisters-in-law, Susan Isder and Nancy (Jack) Longwell; brother-in-law, Steve (Laura) Nemitz; and many nieces and nephews.
    Celebration of his life will be Saturday, May 18, at 11 a.m. at Valley Community Church with Pastor Clyde Jones officiating in Colorado City, Colo.
    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Valley Community Church or Sangre De Cristo Hospice and Palliative Care in Pueblo, Colo.  Online condolences can be placed at www.imperialfunerals.com.
