John McGinty obituary

John McGinty, age 81 of Rochester, Minn. passed away peacefully at his home October 29, 2023.
John was born June 5, 1942 in Crystal Falls, Mich. to John P. McGinty and Helene (Bergland) McGinty of Baraga, Mich.
He attended Baraga High School and Suomi College in Hancock, Mich., Duluth Business College in Duluth, Minn. John served in the US Army, stationed at Fort Belvoir, Va., and trained as a Medical Corpsman and Laboratory Technician. He returned home to his previous job and managed cost departments for Pettibone Michigan Corp. in Baraga and Clyde Iron Works in Duluth, Minn.
On June 24, 1967, he Married Corrine Almli in Baraga, Mich. at Holy Cross Church.
He and his wife established and operated Home Traditions store in Lake City, Minn. for 20 years. John was a member of American Legion Post 110, Lake City Lions Club where he did meals on Wheels for many years. John also served on the Streets and Parks Board in Lake City.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Corrine (Almli) McGinty, two sisters, Pat (McGinty) Westman of L’Anse, Mich., and Mary Grace (McGinty) Friesen of Cincinnati, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents
A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City with Pastor Nathan Cordes officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Lake City. Memorials are preferred to Mayo Hospice and Meals on Wheels in Lake City.
