John McKenzie III obituary

John S. McKenzie III, 72, passed away on October 17, 2024, in Minneapolis, Minn. Born on March 30, 1952, in Lake City, Minn., he was a renowned musician, celebrated for his exceptional talent as a pianist.
Johnny “Mac” was a pivotal figure in the music scene and a founding member of the Jesse Brady Band. Although classically trained, his true passion lay in rock music, which he pursued with fervor throughout his life. His musical legacy is marked by his brilliance on the piano and his ability to captivate audiences.
He is survived by his son, Austin, and three grandchildren, Alana, Kaiden, and Jace. Mac’s legacy is also cherished by his siblings, Stephen, Rod, Mike, and Zona. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maryanne and John S. McKenzie, Jr. and his brother Thomas.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in his honor on Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Stephen McKenzie’s Art Studio, located at 5841 Lonsdale Blvd East, Northfield, MN 55057. The event will feature an Open House following a short service, welcoming all who knew him to share in remembering his remarkable life and contributions.
