Joseph Wallerich Obituary

    Joseph M. Wallerich, 92, of rural Wabasha, died Saturday, March 31, 2018 at St. Elizabeth’s Health Care Center in Wabasha.  
    He was born March 1, 1926 in Wabasha, to Frank and Mary (Clemens) Wallerich of Reads Landing.  Joe was a lifelong farmer on the Wallerich family farm on Pepin Hill.  He married Mary Evers April 22, 1950 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Conception, rural Kellogg.
    He was a lifelong member of St. Felix Catholic Church and a long time member of St. Joseph’s Society of Catholic United Financial.  He was also a past member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved driving his tractors and riding his four-wheeler.  He enjoyed deer hunting, loving his animals, especially his dogs, and watching western movies.  He especially loved to tease his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  His vacation time was spent travelling about visiting his many relatives.
    Joe is survived by his wife, Mary Wallerich of Wabasha; children, Margery Wallerich of Winona, Jon (Linda) Wallerich of Wabasha, Joyce Ireland of Wabasha, Marla (Todd) Hubbard of Lake City, Jean (Joe) Feils of Kellogg, Jerry (Cori) Wallerich of Wabasha and Mark Wallerich (Tina Montgomery) of Lake City; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sister, Mary Lou Rutz of Lake City; brothers, Robert Wallerich of Plainview and Norbert (Colleen) Wallerich of Rochester; nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews; and his beloved dog, Duke.  He is also survived by brother-in-law, Michael Evers of Minneapolis and sisters-in-law, Beverly Evers of Theilman and Dorothy Klees of Rochester.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Wallerich, granddaughter, Christine Wallerich, brother and sisters-in-law, Francis and Mary Pat Wallerich and Orlene Wallerich and brothers-in-law, Leon Rutz and Ted Evers.
    A funeral mass will be offered on Wednesday, April 4, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha with the Rev. Fr. Gregory Parrott and Deacon John Hust officiating.  Interment will be at St. Felix Cemetery.  Family and friends may call at Abbott Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 3, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 8 p.m. and at the church one hour before the mass.
